Would love to see James Cameron on the react couch watching this with you all! 😅
That would be incredible!
An idea we all have..
Hey man! I've liked your videos for a long time :)
Oh yeah, definitely
YES!!!!
Honestly, the only reason this was at all janky is because of the low detail Navi models and the intentional lack of effort. You could probably make some pretty remarkable shit if you took your time on the skin textures, had good actors, and fixing the limbs.
This deserves some actual props, even though it’s silly af.
They have skill for it for sure, the funny past about Avetar is look like weird 😅😅😅
Agreed, but the idea was just to show how far you could get with what is available today.
These guys got 90% there with widely available and either free or relatively inexpensive tools.
If it was a full studio effort with polished voice acting and actors, time to flesh out models etc. they would most probably get even closer.
Cameron was shooting Avatar 2 for 12 years, dropping a billion dollars in the process.
An animated film student can now mostly get to something comparable at an iota of the cost..
Crazy how far we have come in a little over a decade.
AI is changing the game real quick
@Scroopy Nooperz I think the script covered the original movie as well, and I suppose AI could improve on that as well with a little prompting.
yea but, yea but... the whole point is to do it ASAP and low cost. I'm sure you can make it beautiful by sinking time & money. We've got Avatar 2 to show us that.
@Scroopy Nooperz "90% there" lol, that last 10% probably takes a magnitude more time and effort.
Technically superior, but lacking the heart that the previous one had.
_"Hey! Heeeey!"_ will always bring a tear to my eye.
so, just like the original 👌👌
Hey! HEY!! HEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!(kick to the face)
YOURE STILL ACTIVE??
@kawion Wait and see tomorrow! 😉
Ami!!! No way! Love finding you on other channels I love. And also damn you Tom Cruise!
i always respect sponsored products more when they let the creator use it how they want and not hide the flaws to make it appear perfect.
Imo this is the BEST way to show a promo, you use It, show how It works and everyone draws conclussions on wheter they like It or not. Corridor Digital are just such OG's they have my eternal respect.
They could coz they knew that had an amazing product and it shows. honestly one of the best ads ever
This is like a mid-tier videogame cutscene from a decade ago, the return on effort is immense.
Watching this video makes me realize that investing more than a billion dollars to make your movie as realistic as possible is so worth it.
facts
not for long
Came here looking for this comment lol
Reading this comment reminds me that a billion dollars of VFX budget makes great looking images, but that money still can't really save a movie with uninteresting writing.
@Thatcher Freemanreading this reply reminds me that 2,300,000,000 is a bigger number than 1,000,000,000 so no matter what you think of the plot it clearly doesn’t need saving
I love that Clint can just pop back in for a video project without them having to explain who he is. He's just that old friend who's always still around to jump back in when they need him.
oh, yeah I forgot he left at a professional capacity
The way she knocks the rock down, completely defying all laws of Physics, best part.
Yeah that "push" with lo leverage made me laugh _and_ sigh :D
I loved that and her emotional face out of the water lol
she imagined some chris boulder pawnching
Hey maybe the rock was hollow (or she weighed thousands of pounds lol)
That was her Wily Coyote moment.
Such a massive improvement over Avatar 2! The models, shaders, textures, and environment are significantly better!
joke
*Avetar
By Avetar 5 it might be ready for Netflix
facial animation is actually really good
The plot is loads better.
I mean this is obviously 3-5 years away from being heavily used in any final post- production shots. But what an amazing tool to get quick pre-vis or storyboard elements!
Well, I forgot that most of everything shown here is free software 😅😅👍
the voice acting seals the deal. Wonderful
The dialogue was also brilliant.
the sound edit kills it lol
For the next one they need to use a text to speech AI for sure xD
If they use this approach to create animatics before production it could save a TON.
They've done it, in the first Avatar
Its called virtual production
Yeah, but with THESE particular tools...
@luvz2reed I get what you're saying.. and i'm sure the guys in the pre-vis community know about it, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do start utilizing this software to create even faster pre-vis and maybe even with stunt teams to give more realistic stunt pre-vis. (I feel like i've said pre-vis too much lol)
@Mart Ford Thank you.
"You won't believe an AI made this"
I do believe actually.
Honestly this turned out better than I expected. It's really amazing what you can do with free software and a camera in just a few days. Things like this can really inspire someone to chase a career in VFX.
Oscar worthy for sure! James would be proud xD
The submarine would be proud
James was proud. He was just off camera, watching his creation.
Proud enough to sue! 😂😂
Osker
I mean, it’s not hard when the next movie’s gonna take another 10+ years to come out
isnt it coming out in 2025
ioxoxo🎉
Oh my god bakertuts is still alive LFG
@Whammy Watermelonsorry, I forgot the /s
@Xancxxsup
I would love to hear Jame's thought on these. I would hope that he finds these as fun as other people, because its obvious they are doing it because they love the movies.
I honestly think he'd love it if he even had the time to acknowledge it's existence. If only because it's pushing to make films with tools that have to be wrangled into doing things they weren't originally meant to. I'd be shocked if Rokoko didn't implement new features just because of this.
@TheRealAlpha2 Yeah, he had the time to comment on the suicide sub debacle, what's a few hours with the Corridor crew on their sofa?
This is a man who filmed the first Terminator under the cloak of night because he didn't have the right permits. I am sure he would love this.
These performance capture tools have reached a level where you can capture very subtle expressions.
The facial expressions saw a huge jump in quality with this sequel, I was actually genuinely impressed. Going to be checking out rokoko in a bit.
Shooting the mocap before you have a script....awesome....now you really produce your film like a modern Hollywood blockbuster!
It only took me about 25 seconds to completely forget that this wasn't the "real" Avatar 2. The high-quality action direction and expressive, non-robotic facial animations were what helped me become fully... immersed :D
The shot where he says, "I know. Let's tread carefully," is actually like a legitimately good performance. 👏
Given the limited time to film underwater, facial capture, and do all the technical stuff, that was pretty awesome! With FREE software too? Fantastic! It's still got the jank of course but definitely services the purpose of showcasing how you can leverage what's available to you when doing VFX or film making.
For a few days work, that's crazy impressive! The speed and rate at which these tools are advancing and developing is changing the industry for sure. UE5 has already changed the game significantly, so with this level of instant performance capture, the possibilities and rate and which they can be produced is becoming limitless.
I was really impressed with MetaHuman animator. That software gets some really impressive results.
Now let's get Avatar 4 done before James even has 3!
I love the Avetar series. The results are always a mess, but with each iteration they are turning more and more into something that might actually make it to the big screens one day. Quite fascinating and amazing to watch the tools evolve so fast.
It's nice to see Clint teaming up with you guys again! :D
Another Banger , Period! Dont stop this !!! You guys make a big portion of my day! You need segments when an editor just shows how they edit a video ; even just swapping sound for a movie clip for example to make it better, help us little people learn the ways lol
I love this content! I was just watching Age of Ultron and saw Pietro’s super speed effect and it got me thinking: could y’all do a video on super-speed visuals in movies? Different ones like the Flash series, Queen of the Damned, and others. I’d like to know how they were done and I just think it would make a great video. Keep up the great work!
This made me appreciate the work of James
Now imagine having to do train yourself in the proper breath holding techniques so can keep you hold your breath underwater for up to 4 minutes at a time to act out the scene in its entirety
They shouldve done this
Genuinely impressive what you could achieve with free software. Sometimes I take it for granted that I learnt about the most of the technologies you used from your channel. I've never regretted subbing :)
Love that some of the animations you've done are getting sequels with newer technology and software.
HELL YEAH! as a long time Rokoko user im SO HAPPY to see you guys using all the suits, the new AI software, AND the RadicalVariance HMC mount!
This is insane.. One year from the first one and it's multiple times better...
Can't wait to see the next one, I'm genuinely more hyped for this than the actual movie XD
Wow, that is really impressive! So amazing you can get such good mocap from a single source of video nowadays!
The fact that one person can do this in just a few days shows how far we have come with this tech. Awesome video.
Sam, you level up the game. Always nice to see Clint in the studio. But, did the navi people actually talked underwater? 😄
You guys are the best. I bet James Cameroon's radar was beeping now.😂
I know it's a bit about James Cameron giving Sam a call, but... it's truly so impressive what he was able to make with these tools in just a few days.
Wow, it's amazing to see how far you come since avetar 2, soon enough we will see you making avetar 4 with james cameron himself!
Honestly, for the limited amount of time and effort that went into this, the quality is shockingly good.
love the avetar 3 movie, my favourite moment is the immense breathing underwater at 14:26
Sam seems happier. I like this! Killer video!
Wow it's incredible how clearly the squid's movements are from Wren's motion capture!
I always wondered why they didn't utilize some of these tools already.
That is amazing for how fast they made it. But I still can't wait until they do something more serious that shows all their skills.
I know the D&D series was really good but maybe some good scifi action would be good too.
Great job as usual.
Oh yeah! Where da bubbles?
Hahaha the anger face she has when getting out the water. Hilarious. 😂
I work in a Motion capture studio, and its impressive how effortless you guys make this look but there is always some clean up to do, even in a millions dollars setup. To anybody wandering if AI will replace us. No, it won't. Just a powerfull tool
I love how they always find a way to keep it fun while demonstrating the latest tech. This is how you do it.
There were moments where it felt creepy, but I consider this as an astounding achievement with 0 budget
What I love best about this Avatar sequel is that it works perfectly with my own version of True Lies 2
You’re gonna have to elaborate.
I was experimenting with gpt and figured out that if you tell it to do certain writing techniques it can write storys that are full, and can create some pretty captivating stuff
I can't believe how good this is.
Really fun to watch!
My God - the improvement from A2 is ASTONISHING! Jesus! 🤯🤯🤯 I think everyone who watched your A2 video must’ve gone in to watching this with an expectation of what the end result was going to be, but hooolllllllyyyy smokes you’ve come a LONG way. Even the stress levels of Sam throughout the process have improved exponentially. Just amazing. 👏👏👏
Sam wears a Metal Gear AND a rhapsody t-shirt in this one... I think he might be my spirit animal... 🙌
Now i want to see them incorporate all the cool tech they been using lately when ont trynog to do it as fast as possible. I can see a spark of something game changing here
lol, if only more movies were made to this quality
I mean, you just have to hire 5 CGI experts for a month and you get an entire full-length feature film, I don't understand why there's so few cool movies like this ;P
(but for real, we need more jank movies)
If this is just Sam joking around around in UE5, Can’t imagine how good it would look if they took their time and got the whole team working on it. I would love to see some peak performance work next time!
The growth from the last version is incredible!
It's just incredible how far you can get with free tools now
Hey if the writers and actors stay on strike, there's a nonzero chance this is how the next Avatar looks
The finally rendered face capture is way better than I expected
Makes me so happy to see Clint back in the studio ❤️
This looks so awsome, i could imagine a full corridor video with this tech. This unlocks so much potential for even more awsome content from you.
I love how the na'vi characters do not have large eyes and sclera ( the colored part of the eye) unlike in the avatar movies because it really gives the characters an off brand feel.
It's crazy to imagine what technological developments will come after AI. Pioneering directors and artists back in the day could not have even imagined the kinds of technology we have now.
The models looked surprisingly good
The jump in quality is actually pretty impressive. I'd love to see James on the couch watching both 😂
It's so.... JANKY! I LOVE IT! :D
It's amazing thinking you can get this far with mostly free tools, almost no cleanup and shoestring budget....
We live in amazing times :D
Render actually looks pretty good !!
In a serious context, I wasn't expecting results this good tbh!
I loved this but I think Avetar 2 is still my favorite this new one looked better with the graphics but the story got a little too complex once they introduced Fire, and I think especially as a single Father of 4 it's hard to try and explain fire to the little ones, I really wish they would've just stuck to just water, but other than that and the really scary jumpscare at the start I really loved it
Considering he did this for free, that's incredibly impressive
Just started 3 months ago doing cinematic shots with my Bengal, and as a collective, you have inspired me to keep making stuff 😮
Every time I watch one of these vids, makes me want to do animation. And with the tech these days I really have no excuse. 😂
so so cool to see the evolution of tech through your videos and a response in your workflow
I predict this Rokoko video thing will be pretty flawless if they implement multiple cameras, and some physics simulation AI like Cascadeur. Once software can triangulate a feature with two cameras, and then narrow down all the possible solutions to "Only stuff a human body is physically capable of." motion data should require almost no cleanup.
With the amount of time put into this, it's not all that bad. I could only imagine how it would turn out if you guys had more time.
Put Jordan on, we need SO much more of this person on screen.
Her energy is contiguous, she instantly makes you happy and smile!
We literally watch every sec of the sponsor, just to get some of her energy.
It's insane that this was possible for basically one person to make in a week on a budget of $0. Imagine what's going to be possible by the time they start making Avetar 4.
I would love to see these pushed out as 3D. Get that last bit of James Cameron magic. ESclips players in VR work great for 3D playback. And a cool area for Corridor to learn and flex.
Crazy dedication as always Corridor. Really- just awesome job
Crazy to see how fluid and perfect the face motion capture is insaneeeeee
Putting this out during the writers' strike was pure genius
Using AI software, casually announcing a sequel to your most hated vfx project, and using assets from UBISOFT???
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ESclips channel do a more sudden heel turn lol
I loved Avetar 2. I can't wait to see the next installment.
I'm wondering if the yellow blends into the pools cyan making it difficult for the software to differentiate. Seems the red was tracked great but it was always the yellow that needed more cleanup.
No but seriously that very opening shot was actually beautiful and genuinely worthy of the big screen, no joke.
The rate of improvement of this technology is astonishing. I know that James Cameron is deliberately pushing the boundaries of what's possible, he's walking so Corridor can run, but you do make a compelling case for the notion that he's overpaying for what he gets. To get something as good as this in a matter of days and for almost no budget is bonkers! Sure, your honed skills and years of experience play a significant part, some schmuck like me couldn't pull of the same result tomorrow given the same kit, but if the _free_ tools out in the world today are _this_ good now then imagine how good it'll be in just a few years' from now!
honestly is Corridor committed to a fully animated project they could make some fire stuff fr.
I think the whole point of James Cameron undewater motion capture is to capture expression of diving underwater.
I have a nice idea for a challenge video. Me and many other people think that Tool has some of the best music videos of all time. They are artistic as hell, the are very spiritual and have a very special style you don't see in any other videos. The "Vicarious" video is 100% CGI while other videos only have certain parts of CGI (like the ending of Parabola) if any at all. But they all ooze the same gruesome yet beautiful style. How about 3 or 4 people challenge each other in making short CGI-scenes in this style. You don't need to use any Tool music. It's just about this certain and very unique style of music video. I would love to see you guys trying out this style. Maybe you can use some royalty free music to match the scenes.
the motion is so smooth compared to the last one! I'm already ready for watch Avetar 4!
I could honestly see this being used as a type of pre-vis stuff for storyboarding etc.
It looks like it could run on Unreal Engine 3. Great job, Corridor staff.
Avetar 2 came across as a joke throughout. This really DID feel like an tech experiment. Well done, Sam and crew!
I'm grateful for you guys for sharing this knowledge with us and it is a sponsored video but I'm not sure it was great time to put it during the writers and actors strike. This could go both ways. Either the higher ups realizes however Ai is involved you need real people to do the heavy lifting or that they're gonna push for developing Ai more and force it be more involved. This might be dumb comment but anyway great video.
Dis looks like a great avatar game
Great work 👏🏾 🎉
Hey guys! Great video!! I Was thinking if you could actually do this but with Oppenheimer. I've seen the film and I thought that THAT nuclear test could've look more impressive, imposing, and even scary with the help of some VFX. I think it didn't deliver the scale they need. But now I can't sleep because I the scene was perfect but I keep thinking maaaaybe it would've look better. LOVE YOU GUYS!!
-Eduardo
Nice job guys
Always a fan
I wish I got the chance to work with you guyz
