His critical attitude shows how much he cares about the show. And I don't think he's really blaming anyone other than probably Apple for not giving enough time/budget to make the show as perfect as he'd like. Which I agree with. There's a reason why Stranger Things is so successful. The team is given enough budget and time with each season to make it spectacular. How many shows take 3-4 years between each season? None, yet Stranger Things has proven that fans are willing to wait if their patience is paid off.

Avatar was kicking around Cameron's head for years and then once CG tech caught up to his vision he was able to execute it. These days, we can do pretty much anything given the time and money. The real challenge is asking yourself if what you are doing serves the story and is worth the effort. Otherwise you are just VFX Free Birding.

This is one of my favourite episodes and I’ll tell you why. First , amazing show. Everything about it screams detail, story, and thought. Second, these guys were super into it. I loved how active they were at getting into the questions and speaking on things some of the other guests probably would not.
Next time maybe ask them how it was working with some of the actors and the challenges they faced. I noticed Empire usually has his belly button covered and I’m guessing it’s because they don’t want to spend extra time on the shot. I wonder if Lee has to keep that in mind.
Or how it was working with practical equipment vs CG and the thought behind that. I know they touched on that a little bit.
    Great episode guys! 👏

The thing is that in VFX you have a whole team behind you, so everyone's early work still looks amazing. When you are a Junior you have a bunch of seniors holding your hand and walking you through all your shots.
Chris was one of my first VFX supes, and he was amazing to work with. We worked on the Chariot race for the Ben Hur remake. The quality of the shots are top notch, even though it was some of the first work I have ever done.

      @HAL NOVEMILA:
It isn't ultimately that different at all; keep in mind that the first book, _Foundation_ itself, is short and purposefully fragmented to give the impression of grand scales of time; the series isn't so much changing the story (although it does that too) as it's filling in blanks to expand upon it, and it's doing a great job at that.

Question Suggestion: I'd love to hear a little more from people in the VFX industry about forming a union and improving vfx worker conditions. I know its a hard conversation but no industry has ever regretted forming a union and I'd love to hear from someone in the known as to why this hasn't happened yet and what challenges they face.

I vote Corridor makes a new mini series where Niko and the boys attempt to recreate how they do some of the effects before getting answers from the professionals!

It has to be such a cool feeling to know that people you look up to and that are considered big names in the industry, away they're "big fans" of your work. Bravo corridor crew, doing big things! 🎉

6:53 the way they talk about realistic things in shows made me look closer and you can clearly see how static the boats are. Almost if they are on the solid ground and the water is just cm deep.
I would never notice something like that in a show.😂 these videos are awesome

SUGGESTION: A movie you don't expect to have visual effects: Notting Hill. Check out 1 h 28 minutes into that movie! It's a sequence where the seasons change within a few seconds.

I just looked up the scene. It’s good storytelling, but no special effects going on, just shot on a very long stage/lot, with the set partitioned in different versions, and he just walks through it. Nicely choreographed, but , I mean, his suit even stays the same. More symbolic than visual, really.

    • Geert van der Plas
Geert van der Plas Hace 2 meses

@Martin TuronIf memory serves me well, it was done in two shots, so there are minimal visual effects in the middle to join the two. But other than that, it's indeed all choreography

You guys should take a look at the opening credits of Vertigo. It's supposedly the first use of CGI with a live-action film. It's stunning to see knowing that it's from 1958.

Good suggestion. Given there was no CGI back then, the swirls are nicely done. Most likely with a function generator on a screen, and then tinted. Or drawn out to avoid any flicker of the screen. Hmm 🤔

I'm curious how you guys at Corridor are handling the current strike situation. How are you planning to do reacts without crossing the picket line? Only reacting to international content covered by different, non-striking unions? Only react to shows from union-approved studios? Really hope y'all can keep doing what you're doing while standing in solidarity 💪

Regarding the diagonal decapitation, Blade 2 does the exact same shot with pretty much the same detail, including showing a different angle to include exposed brain tissueway back in 2002, and the eye blinks in that one. I'm curious if Foundation's team looked at that at all in building this one.

I think it is fascinating hearing which shots the creators wish the could "fix."
I think have a regular question to ask them "Which shot do you wish you could go back & adjust the most."
You do ask this essentially some times & they spoke about it alot in this one. I think just keep it up. Love all your work & vibes btw. Cheers

A truly impressive get for guests. Well of course, ALL of the special guests have been suitably special. The differences between how you see the scenes and the people who make them are interesting because it shows that even sometimes when they think they fail, they still kinda win just on the merit that the show even gets made and people are suspending their disbelief. And yeah, long time fan here, still hoping one day we'll see _Tether_ happen.
